LIVE-IN Support
LIVE-IN is a Logic Pro plug-in that shows your live show on an iPad on the music stand: sections, chords, notes, what comes next, the click and the holds. LIVE-IN Screen is its free iPad app.
Write to us for any question or problem. Tell us your Mac and macOS version, your Logic Pro version, your iPad model and the LIVE-IN version (shown in the plug-in window). We usually reply within two working days.
What you need
- A Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel) with macOS 11 or later and Logic Pro.
- The LIVE-IN plug-in on the Mac.
- An iPad with iPadOS 16 or later and the free LIVE-IN Screen app.
- A USB cable between iPad and Mac. LIVE-IN doesn't use Wi-Fi: on stage, the cable is safer.
Quick answers
The iPad says "Waiting for LIVE-IN on the Mac"
- Connect the iPad to the Mac with the USB cable. The first time, tap "Trust" on the iPad.
- Open the Logic project with LIVE-IN on a track. Keep LIVE-IN Screen open on the iPad: it connects by itself, and reconnects if the cable is unplugged.
- Want to see what it does without a Mac? Tap TRY THE DEMO.
Logic says the plug-in "isn't available", or shows an old version
- Make sure there is only one copy of
LIVE-IN.component: in/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Componentsor in~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, not both. - In Logic, open Settings › Plug-in Manager, select LIVE-IN and press "Reset & Rescan Selection".
The iPad keys don't move Logic
The keys reach Logic as MIDI on "Logic Pro Virtual In". Assign them once in Logic (Control Surfaces › Learn Assignment), pressing each key on the iPad. The plug-in's Setup page has a button test that checks each one.
The FX page doesn't reach my effects unit
- In the plug-in's FX page, check the destination: the dot must be green.
- On the unit, MIDI over USB must be on, and the channel must match.
- Effects units don't report their state: if a block looks the wrong way round, tap SYNC on the iPad.
Licence and activation
The plug-in works fully for 15 days. To keep it, buy a licence and paste the key in the plug-in (Activate). It activates once online, then works offline. A licence covers two Macs; you can move it by deactivating it on one Mac first.
